Easy breakfast smoothies!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it breaks the overnight fast and provides your body with essential nutrients and energy so you are able to last throughout the day. It is proven that people who skip breakfast are often more tired and restless than those who eat a healthy balanced breakfast everyday.

However, many of us, especially university students often skip this meal as we're always running late for class. However, running late doesn’t mean we have to skip out on the most important meal of the day.

Introducing breakfast smoothies!

Breakfast smoothies are an extremely easy and quick way to get enough energy and nutrients to last you a whole day and you can even drink them as you're on your daily commute to work/uni. You can even make the process quicker by proportioning your fruits in a big Ziploc bag in advance and freezing them for up to 3 months.

Today I will share 2 of my favourite breakfast smoothie recipes!

Mango banana smoothie:
·         1 banana (to taste)
·         1 cup of frozen mangos (to taste)
·         1/2 cup of Greek yogurt
·         1/2 cup of your choice of milk (I normally use dairy milk as we always have it at home)
·         1 tablespoon of honey (optional) (for a sweeter taste as some frozen mangoes may be a bit sour, along with the Greek yogurt)
·         Instant oats (optional) (will make your smoothie thicker but more filling for those days where you're really hungry)
·         Handful of almonds (optional) (give a small bite to your smoothies but similar to instant oats, will be more filling)
Just throw all the above into a blender and blend until it becomes a smooth texture and add milk/honey to taste if not sweet enough or too thick.

Berry smoothie:
·         3/4 cup of blueberries (to taste)
·         2-3 whole strawberries (to taste)
·         1 banana (optional, helps for a smoother texture)
·         1/2 cup of Greek yogurt
·         1/2 cup of your choice of milk
·         1 tablespoon of honey (optional)
·         Instant oats (optional)
·         Almonds (optional)
·         Handful of spinach (with the strong taste of the berries, you won't even notice the presence of the spinach)
Again, throw all the above ingredients into a blender and blend until your desired texture, adding milk/honey to taste.
