What does it mean to eat healthy and how to make it easier?

When eating healthy comes to mind, most people just assume they should stay away from fried, fatty and sugary foods. But to really eat healthy, we must consume varieties of foods that provide us with nutrients required to maintain good health while also giving us energy. The essential nutrients include protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.

However, often times, healthier food options are a lot more costly than going to McDonald's and take a lot more time than simply heating up a ready packed meal. A lot more thought is required in order to make sure the meal you're having is healthy while providing enough nutrients and giving you the energy required. That is why, in the coming weeks we will be learning about ways to make healthy eating easier and less costly!

We will begin with two easy and healthy snack ideas:

1) Parmesan roasted tomatoes

This is a great and easy snack option as it only requires two main ingredients; tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Any other ingredients are everyday household items (salt, pepper).

2) Sweet potato chips

Full recipe at http://www.bystephanielynn.com/2013/01/homemade-sweet-potato-chips-quick-microwave-snack-recipe.html

This is an easy, healthy and delicious replacement for potato chips as sweet potatoes are one of the most nutritious vegetables. When potatoes are fried, it is really easy for them to lose their nutrients and with sweet potato fries, you are able to maximise your nutrients while reducing fats and calories.
